Times Higher Education (THE) ranking, on the 7th February, announced the result of this year’s Asia University Ranking. Mahidol University, retaining its position, is ranked no.1 in Thailand, and no. 97 in Asia, amongst other 350 Asian universities.
Also, there are the other 9 institutes which are placed to be Thailand’s forefront universities. These include King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Chulalongkorn University, Suranaree University of Technology, Chiang Mai University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Kasetsart University, Khon Kaen University, Prince of Songkla University, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok.
The employed indicators for 2018 Asia University Rankings are
1) teaching – learning environment
2) research – quantity, income, and reputation
3) citations – research influence
4) international outlook – staff, students, and research
5) industry income – knowledge transfer.
The indicators (in percentage) weight 25, 30, 30, 7.5, and 7.5 respectively.
