Mahidol University’s Creative Economy Center hosted a one-day workshop on community-based product development on March 21, 2017 at Meeting Room 530, 5th floor, Office of the President Building at Salaya. Asst.

Prof. Dr. Surapong Lertsithichai, director of CEC, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Aphilak Kasempholkoon, a member of CEC’s executive committee, delivered opening remarks. Peerawong Chaturongakula, an expert on marketing and brand building strategies, gave a talk on how to develop community-based products. The participants later went on a field trip to Samchuk market in Suphanburi.

CEC was established with an aim to assist local communities around Salaya campus in developing products based on their cultural heritage and traditional knowledge. Training has been provided on how to create value-added products that are unique, innovative and attractive to consumers and tourists, and to enhance local entrepreneurs’ skills for business sustainability.
