MUIC and Chiba University Organized “International Conference on Resources and Human Mobility”

Mahidol University International College (MUIC) and Chiba University, Japan jointly organized the “International Conference on Resources and Human Mobility” held on December 2-3, 2019 at Charinyarasami Hall, Aditayathorn Building.

Twenty-four academics and researchers presented their papers in eight panels that covered sub-themes including “Cross-Border Mobility of Agro-based Workers,” “Territories and Environment as Resources,” “Land and Human Mobility in Africa,” “Labor Migration and Resources,” “Conflicts over Resources,” “Visualize the Symbolic Representation of Refugees,” “Human Trafficking and Migration: Situations in Asia,” and “Muslim Communities in Southeast Asia and Their Networks with the Middle East.”

Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, the Executive Director of Mekong Institute, was the keynote speaker. Assoc. Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, M.D., MUIC Dean, and Prof. Keiko Sakai, Dean, Center for Relational Studies on Global Crises, Chiba University, gave the opening remarks.

This international conference, funded by the Japanese government, is part of an ongoing large-scale research project titled “Relational Studies on Global Crises.”
