Seminar on Ontological Security Theory on June 2, 2017

UN1

The Business Administration and Social Science Divisions jointly organized a seminar on “Ontological Security” with Dr. Christopher Ankersen, Security Advisor for the UN system in Thailand as guest speaker on June 2, 2017 at Aditayathorn Building.

A theory in psychology regarding a stable mental state brought about by a sense of order and continuity in one’s life, the Ontological Security Theory, according to Dr. Ankersen, can be applied to other fields including business and international relations. For the latter, he said that like individual human beings, state actors adhere to routine actions and relationships as they seek order, stability, and continuity even at the cost of committing irrational actions.
