Mahidol University is ranked 70th in the world and the best in Thailand in 2016 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, in which 516 universities from 74 countries have taken part. The project, an initiative of Universitas Indonesia (UI), compares the efforts of universities towards campus sustainability and environmentally friendly management.
With a total score of 5,992, Mahidol is placed 70th overall and tops the list of 22 Thai institutes participating in the rankings. The scores are based on indicators in six categories: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water use, transportation, and education.
University of California, Davis, which held the third positon in the previous ranking, has emerged as No.1 in the world, with a score of 8,398.
