International Academic Forum and 5th APEC Media Focus Group

On 20th July 2022, Mahidol University and Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly hosted the International Academic Forum and 5th APEC Media Focus Group (AMF5) on “APEC and Business Sustainability” at the Prince Mahidol Hall, Salaya Campus. The event aimed to raise awareness on APEC 2022 Thailand host year and to exchange knowledge on how we pursue transformation towards innovative economic growth as well as sustainable future for all.

In this occasion, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and APEC 2022 SOM Chair, presided over the opening ceremony and kindly delivered a keynote speech, while Professor Banchong Mahasavariya, President of Mahidol University, gave a welcoming speech to the audience of around 150, comprising of diplomatic corps, press and media, academics, staff and students.

The Forum was divided into two sessions. Session 1: BCG Economy in Thailand and Business Sustainability, moderated by Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Director-General, Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had four speakers including Dr. Janekrishna Kanatharana, Vice President and Executive Director, Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation, National Science and Technology Development Agency; Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, Dean, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital; Ms. Prinat Apirat, Deputy Director-General, Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President Corporate Branding, Communication and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corp. PCL.

Session 2: Sufficiency Economy and Innovation for Sustainable Future, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, welcomed three speakers including Assoc. Prof. Vichita Ractham, Dean, College of Management; Assoc. Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Director, Institute for Technology and Innovation Management and Ms. Jinanggoon Rojananan, Deputy Secretary General, Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council.
