Macquarie-Mahidol Research Workshop in Applied Linguistics

On Wednesday 17th November 2021, Mahidol University in associated with Macquarie University launched the Macquarie-Mahidol Research Workshop in Applied Linguistics via zoom platform. The objectives of the workshop were to share research interests and initiate opportunities for research collaboration.

The program started with the opening remarks from both sides:

Prof. Simon Handley, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Graduate Research, Graduate Research Academy along with Prof. Catherine McMahon, Head of Dept. of Linguistics

Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University along with Asst. Prof. Natthapong Chanyoo, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts

This workshop focused on three key areas on Applied Linguistics research which were “Multilingualism and cross-cultural communication in diverse educational environments”, “Sociophonetics and phonological acquisition in Thai and English”, and “Cross-cultural communication in diverse and changing societies” in the three-breakout room session. The speakers were comprised of 11 representatives from the Department of Linguistics, the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, Macquarie University and 7 representatives from the Faculty of Liberal Arts with about 36 participants from both sides joined the workshop.
