Mahidol University Welcomes Delegation from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), United Kingdom

On 19 January 2026, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D. Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council Member of Mahidol University, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, warmly welcomed Prof. Kara Hanson, Professor of Health Economics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), United Kingdom, on the occasion of her visit to Mahidol University. The visit included a meeting to discuss academic collaboration, held at the OSM3 Meeting Room, Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

During the meeting, both parties discussed existing collaborations between LSHTM and the Faculty of Pharmacy, as well as other faculties and units of Mahidol University. The discussions focused on opportunities for research collaboration, academic development, and strengthening research capacity building for staff from both institutions.

In addition, the two sides explored potential funding opportunities from the United Kingdom Government under the SEA-DREAM (South East Asia – Development of Research Excellence and Mentorship) programme. This initiative aims to enhance research capacity between the UK and Southeast Asian countries and is supported by the UK Government through its national research funding agencies. The programme emphasizes building research networks, developing academic mentorship systems, and fostering long-term collaborative research partnerships.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed possible avenues to expand academic collaboration between LSHTM and the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, and the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University. The shared goal is to initiate research matchmaking activities to connect researchers with complementary expertise and to jointly develop collaborative research proposals in the future.
