Assistant Professor Dr. Dongruethai Buadong, Course Director of RAPN 523: Nursing Practicum of Children with Acute Critical and Chronic Illness, and Chair of the Pediatric Nursing Division, led four students, who enrolled in the course RAPN 523, Class of 2024, from the Master of Nursing Science Program in Pediatric Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, on a study visit at Juntendo University Hospital and Juntendo University Nerima Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, from July 13 to 16, 2025.
On July 14, 2025, Professor Dr. Mika Hirata and Assistant Professor Asami Yamasaki from the Department of Child Health Nursing, Juntendo University, Faculty of Health Care and Nursing, Graduate School of Health Care and Nursing, along with the Head Nurse and the nursing administration team, warmly welcomed the delegation at the Faculty of Medicine, Hongo-Ochanomizu Campus (Headquarter). After that, the delegation was guided on a tour of the pediatric ward at the Juntendo University School of Medicine, Juntendo Hospital Children’s Medical Center, including an overview of the Pediatric Medical and Pediatric Surgery Center at the Pediatric Surgical Ward (Ward 10A), the General Pediatric Ward (Ward 10B), the Growing Care Unit (GCU), the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU – Ward BN), and the Outpatient Pediatric Department (OPD) at Juntendo University Hospital.
In the afternoon, Professor Dr. Ueki Jun, Dean of Faculty of Health Care and Nursing, Dean of Graduate School of Health Care and Nursing, Juntendo University, and Professor Ritsuko Wakabayashi, Chair of International Exchange Committee at the Simulation Center, welcomed the delegation and led a tour showcasing educational activities and the use of simulation learning at the Simulation Center. The visit also included a campus tour and interaction with international graduate students, including both doctoral and master’s students, at the School of Health Care and Nursing, Juntendo University, Urayasu Campus.
On July 15, 2025, Professor Dr. Yoshiyuki Ohtomo, MD, Department of Pediatric, Juntendo University Nerima Hospital, along with the Head Nurse, Nursing Inspector team, and Head of the wards welcomed the delegation at the Nursing Department Office of Nerima Hospital. The delegation was then guided on a study visit to several departments, including the Pediatric Ward, the Growing Care Unit (GCU), the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the General Pediatric Ward (Ward 4A), and the Outpatient Department (OPD) at Juntendo Nerima Hospital.
This study visit was a significant initiative that enhances clinical skills, global perspectives, and firsthand experience with international nursing systems for both students and faculty of Ramathibodi School of Nursing. It aimed to strengthen teaching and pediatric nursing practices in the Thai context and foster the development of international professional nursing networks.
