On September 9, 2025, The Elderly Care Center Team of Ramathibodi School of Nursing, in collaboration with the University of California, San Francisco, USA, and Osaka University, Japan, organized an online seminar on “Building Capacity for Integrated and Person-Centered Approaches in Aging.” Associate Professor Dr. Poolsuk Janepanish Visudtibhan, Director of Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, presided over the opening of the seminar via Zoom Meeting.
On this occasion, we were honored to have distinguished speakers, such as Professor Dr. Heather Leutwyler, Vice Chair for Academic Personnel and Mentorship Adult Complex Care Nurse Scientist, Department of Physiological Nursing, University of California San Francisco, USA, who presented on the topic “Nurse-Led Smoking Cessation Intervention for Older Adults with Serious Mental Illness”; Professor Dr. Kei Kamide, Division of Health Sciences, the University of Osaka Graduate School of Medicine, Japan, who presented on the topic “Managing Health in Hospitalized Older Adults: Insights from Japan”; Professor Dr. Mai Kabayama, Director of the Center for International Exchange, Department of Health Promotion Science, Division of Health Sciences, the University of Osaka, Japan, who presented on the topic “Preventive Care for Older Adults in the Community”; Associate Professor Dr. Inthira Roopsawang, faculty member from the Division of Adult and Gerontological Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, who presented on the topic “Enhancing Dignity in Care: Challenges in Effectively Managing Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in the Older Thai Population.” The seminar was moderated by Instructor Dr. Piyawadee Thongyost, Assistant Director for Corporate Communication.
Faculty members, undergraduate students, graduate students, registered nurses, and other healthcare personnel from various public and private hospitals across the country showed great interest and actively attended the seminar.
The objective of this seminar was to exchange knowledge and experiences in integrated elderly care across various settings, including hospitals, homes, and long-term care facilities. It also aimed to promote nursing models that facilitate seamless care in collaboration with international academic institutions.
