Mahidol University Participated in the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Annual General Meeting 2025 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong SAR, China

On 20th–23rd May 2025, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University together with Assoc. Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Ph.D., Vice President for Research, Mahidol University represented Mahidol University at the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025. The event was hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and was held in hybrid format.

The AGM commenced with welcome remarks delivered by Prof. Peter Lennie, Executive Director of WUN, Prof. Bill Flannagan, President of the University of Alberta, Canada, and Prof. Dennis Lo, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK. The meeting brought together senior executives and delegates from over 25 member universities of the WUN network worldwide.

The WUN AGM serves as a platform for strategic discussions among university leaders responsible for international relations and research. It aims to strengthen collaboration and define the role of WUN members in global initiatives such as the Seed Grant Funding Scheme, research matchmaking sessions, and interdisciplinary research cooperation in areas including Tropical Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering.

During the WUN Research Highlights session, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sumittra Suraratdecha, Lecturer in the Linguistics Program at the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia, Mahidol University, presented her research project titled “Indigeneity, Language & Culture: The Role of Linguistic & Cultural Heritage in Addressing Indigenous Inequalities.”

The Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Annual General Meeting 2025 was held with the primary goal of promoting academic and research collaboration among member universities and advancing global engagement across a wide range of disciplines.
