Mahidol University Participates in THE World Academic Summit 2025 in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On 7–9 October 2025, Professor Dr. Sompop Prathanturarug, Vice President for Strategic Planning, Quality Development, and Social Engagement at Mahidol University, participated in THE World Academic Summit 2025, held under the theme “Universities as Agents of Progress.” The summit opened with an address by Mr. Phil Baty, Chief Global Affairs Officer of Times Higher Education (THE), succeeded by a welcome speech from Her Excellency Professor Enas bint Sulaiman Al Eisa, Vice Minister of Education, Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This event was organized by THE, hosted in partnership with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.

The summit served as a crucial forum for university leaders, scholars, policymakers, and industry representatives from around the world to exchange perspectives and explore the evolving role of universities as engines of positive transformation at the local, national, and international levels.

Key themes addressed at the summit included:

  • Universities as Champions of Sustainable Development
  • Universities as Agents of Regional Collaboration
  • Universities as Catalysts of Cultural Preservation and Transformation
  • Universities as Drivers of Innovation and Economic Development

In addition, the summit featured the launch of the THE World University Rankings 2026 and Data Masterclass, offering participants analytical insights drawn from global research data.
