On February 28, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, and Ms. Nara Pao-in, Vice President for People Management and Organization Development, along with the team of faculty administrators, and the faculties of Mahidol University, participated in a collaborative discussion on academics and research with Prof. Liam Smeeth, Director of The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), along with Prof. Ahmed Rashid, Pro-Director Education, Prof. Caroline Relton, Pro-Director for Research and Academic Development, and faculty members of LSHTM. The meeting was warmly hosted at The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), the United Kingdom.
The discussion encompassed a wide range of collaborative efforts between Mahidol University and LSHTM, including cooperation on the Joint Supervision in Radiology, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), Stroke, Emergency Medicine, and Palliative Care, along with the development of an Intercalated Medical Degree and the 3+1+3 Joint Degree Programme, the residency training programme in Immune Epitope Database (IEDB), and a short-course training programme in Tropical Nursing.
Furthermore, the discussions also addressed the development of professional skill in Public Health, with an emphasis on Planetary Health and Air Quality, as well as the establishment of collaborative research centers on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), Health Technology Assessment (HTA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Contemporaneously, Asst. Prof. Thatchavee Leelawat, Ph.D., Vice President for Kanchanaburi Campus, and a faculty administrator of Mahidol University, also explored the opportunities of potential collaboration between Mahidol University and SOAS University of London with Prof. Elisa Van Waeyenberge, Dean of the College of Development, Economics and Finance, together with faculty members and delegates from SOAS University of London, the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, the discussion underscored the keys areas of academics and research collaborations, consisting of joint degree programmes in Social Sciences, which focusing on Society Design Development and Political Science, as well as the cooperation on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Climate Change Development, Political Environment Development, and Global Management and Climate Policy. In addition, discussion also included the exchange of visiting professors, academic staff, and students between Mahidol University and SOAS University of London.
