Mahidol University Discusses Academic Collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University of London, the United Kingdom

On 23 June 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, welcomed Dr. Melanie Morris, Associate Dean of Education; Dr. Pauline Paterson, Associate Professor in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Co-Programme Director for the MSc in Climate Change; and Mr. John-George Nicholson, Head of the Strategic Education Office from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), the United Kingdom, on the occasion of their visit to discuss potential academic collaboration. The meeting took place at the Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

On this occasion, Mahidol University executives warmly welcomed Dr. Melanie Morris and her delegation to explore opportunities for academic partnership. The discussions included:

Associate Professor Dr. Ameporn Ratinthorn, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, who discussed collaboration in academic and research activities, particularly in capacity-building for nurses in the areas of multi morbidity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Associate Professor Chalat Santivarangkna, Director of the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, who discussed the development of 1+3 Master’s to Doctoral degree programs in maternal and child nutrition.

Associate Professor Dr. Sarawut Thepanondh, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, MahidolUniversity, who shared ideas for academic collaboration through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs and specially designed “field and community-based learning experiences,” as well as joint research initiatives aimed at strengthening international networks and partnerships.
