On 14 July 2025, Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., FRCP, President of Mahidol University, together with Assoc. Prof. Sompop Prathanturarug, Ph.D., Vice President for Strategic Planning, Quality Development, and Social Engagement, and Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, warmly welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanaphan Laiprakobsup, Acting Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat, and his delegation at the Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged ideas and explored approaches to strengthen cooperation between Mahidol University and the AUN Secretariat across several key areas, including:
• Preparations for the “AUN Summer Camp 2026,” which will be hosted in Thailand with a focus on fostering youth engagement across ASEAN. The proposed model aims to encourage private sector participation by contributing knowledge, technology, and resources to enhance interdisciplinary learning and provide students with diverse experiential opportunities.
• Progress of the AUN-HPN and AUN-HRE networks, for which Mahidol University serves as the Secretariat. The university reported on ongoing collaborative projects with member universities and discussed future directions and strategies to further advance these initiatives.

• Collaborative efforts under the AUN-QA and AUN-Digital Transformation (AUN-Dx) frameworks, emphasizing the enhancement of higher education quality across ASEAN. Discussions included the exchange of best practices, organization of practical workshops, and the development of expert networks to integrate digital innovation with quality assurance mechanisms for tangible outcomes.

This meeting marks another significant step in Mahidol University’s proactive engagement with the ASEAN University Network, contributing to shared goals in higher education, research, and sustainable development across the region.
