On 22nd – 24th May 2024, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, and Dr. Jutamas Kaewsuk, Head of the Environmental Engineering and Disaster Management Department, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, participated in the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Annual General Meeting 2024. In this regard, Prof. Peter Lennie, Worldwide Universities Network Executive Director, together with Prof. Themba Mosia, Interim Vice-Chancellor and Principal, University of Pretoria, altogether addressed welcome remarks to the participants, including the chief executives and representatives from the universities members of Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), with a total of 23 universities. The meeting was organized in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, and via an online platform.
On behalf of the president of Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, participated in the WUN President Forum 2024 with the theme of “Addressing Global Research Challenges in an African Context”, to jointly exchanged ideas on research guidelines and the characterization of global challenges for research in an African context, and highlighted for the research areas in which can encourage the collaborations among members of WUN and international networks. In addition, the executive of Mahidol University also participated in the Partnership Board, the meeting which was conducted for the universities executives who mainly take responsibility for the International Relations missions to set directions for cooperation and role of the universities members of WUN.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University, presented for the “Valuing Voices for Equitable and Responsible Research”, a joint research project of Mahidol University, in collaboration with University of York, the United Kingdom, with the support from the Wellcome Trust. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trakarn Prapaspongsa, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, also presented a research proposal in the WUN Research Highlights session on the topic of “Towards Net Zero and Sustainable Cities with Resource Optimisation, Circular Economy and Research Network (NZS CITIES)”, and Dr. Jutamas Kaewsuk, Head of the Environmental Engineering and Disaster Management Department, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, together with Assoc. Prof. Richard Friend, Senior Lecturer, University of York, from the United Kingdom, presented for the “Participatory Water Quality Monitoring for Sustainable Development”.
Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Annual General Meeting 2024 was organized during the 22nd to 24th of May, 2024, hosted by the University of Pretoria, Republic of South Africa. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance the universities members of Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) to cooperatively exchange knowledge on academic and research, and to bring up further International cooperation.
