Mahidol University, in Partnership with the Embassy of France in Thailand Organized the “Climate and Health Regional Dialogue Workshop”

On October 2, 2024, Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, President of Mahidol University, together with H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand, presided over the opening ceremony of the Climate and Health Regional Dialogue Workshop. In this regard, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Acting Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, along with the faculty members, staff of Mahidol University, and representatives from public, private, civil society, academic sectors, and international organizations, participated in the event at Maegraith Conference Hall, 8th Floor, 60th Anniversary Chalermprakiat Building, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, and via an online platform.

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Acting Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, delivered a speech on the strong relationships and collaborations between Mahidol University and the Embassy of France over the past years, including in the areas of research, education, academic activities, cultural exchange and other significant collaborations. Furthermore, she emphasized the ongoing support and commitment to further strengthen these partnerships in the future.

On October 3, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kraichat Tantrakarnapa, Department of Social and Environmental Medicine, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, together with Asst. Prof. Kittipong Chaisiri, Department of Helminthology, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, and representatives from academic institutions and international organizations, jointly delivered a lecture on the topic of One Health and Climate Change in an Urbanized World. The session aimed to share insights, adaptive strategies, and mitigation on the effects of climate change on global ecosystems.

Climate and Health Regional Dialogue Workshop organized with the collaborations between Mahidol University and the Embassy of France in Thailand. The event was scheduled to be held during October 2 – 3, 2024, aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences, while also to foster dialogues on the topics related to climate and health with experts worldwide. The outcomes of the workshop will be used as a guideline to draft policy frameworks supporting climate change and health operations and to provide recommendations for regional mitigation policies.
