On December 3 – 4, 2024, Asst. Prof. Thatchavee Leelawat, Ph.D., Vice President for Kanchanaburi Campus, Mahidol University, participated in the ASEAN-Australia Education Dialogue (AAED) 2024 in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyapong Janmaimool, Deputy Director for Strategy and International Relations, ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, was invited as one of the panelists to showcase the deliverables of the ASEAN University Network – Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN). In this regard, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of ASEAN University Network (AUN), also participated in the event.
This event brought together approximately 100 participants, including representatives from Australian universities, members of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), scholars from the AUN Thematic Networks, business leaders and industry partners, representatives from higher education institutions in Lao PDR.
The platform, comprising plenary sessions, panel discussions and master classes, serves as a cornerstone for advancing regional collaboration in education, research, and professional development, offering an opportunity for ASEAN and Australia to strengthen their partnership in addressing contemporary global challenges, especially sustainability and digital transformation.
The closing plenary underlined the importance of sustainable partnerships, as well as transitioning from dialogue to implementation, particularly in terms of cross-thematic networks and research collaboration between the two regions.
