On December 1, 2024, Mahidol University, led by Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Asst. Prof. Thatchavee Leelawat, Ph.D., Vice President for Kanchanaburi Campus, along with faculties and delegation of Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, extended a warm welcome to Prof. Matthias Ruth, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, and Prof. Rob Marchant, Professor of Tropical Ecology, from University of York, the United Kingdom, on the occasion of the site visits to Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus.
The visit featured discussions on sustainable development initiatives, a tour of the Geoscience Museum, an exploration of surrounding areas of Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, and model school for sustainable development under the Kanchanaburi Campus’ supervision.
On an earlier occasion, on November 28, 2024, Asst. Prof. Thaweesak Chooma, Ph.D., Assistant to the Vice President for Nakhonsawan Campus Project, together with faculties and staff of Mahidol University Nakhonsawan Campus, also gave a warm welcome to Prof. Matthias Ruth, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, University of York, the United Kingdom, at Yung Thong Meeting Room, Science Laboratories Building, Mahidol University Nakhonsawan Campus.
The visit provided the exchange of details regarding the SDGs Clinic, while also encompassed an exchange of ideas on the operational strategies of both institutions in engaging with communities, along with analyzing community challenges to devise solutions or further develop initiatives for sustainable development. In addition, the visit featured a trip to “Bueng Boraphet,” a biodiverse freshwater swamp and a significant site for aquatic studies and research. The delegation also explored various key natural education sites in Nakhon Sawan province, focusing on sustainable wetland management through the collaboration of the government, academic institutions, and local communities.
