Mahidol University Held a Project Networking Event on ‘The Capacity Building for Sustainable Future in Developing Regions’ with The Rockefeller Foundation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Thailand)

Mahidol University hosted a networking event on ‘Capacity Building for Sustainable Future in Developing Regions’ from October 16th to 20th, 2023.

On October 16th, the opening day of the event, the introductory speech was delivered by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University, followed by welcome remarks by, Mrs. Arunee Hiam, Deputy Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and an opening remarks of the event by Mr. Eric Arndt, Director of Asia Regional Office of The Rockefeller Foundation at the Prachasangkom UdompathanaMeeting room, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, Salaya campus.

Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication along with Mahidol University executives and delegates from Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Republic of Indonesia, and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, participated in the networking event.

The Capacity Building for Sustainable Future in Developing Regions is an ongoing project and has been supported by The Rockefeller Foundation since 2022. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the capabilities of healthcare professionals in developing regions by leveraging the expertise of MahidolUniversity’s academics. The objectives of this event encompass sharing the progress of the project, creating valuable networks, and planning the Community of Practice in designated regions.

On this occasion, the progress report of 4 sub-project were presented by the project leaders: Asst. Prof. Dr. Chotiros Plabplueng, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medical Technology, in “Medical and Radiological Technology Training and Quality Improvement Programme“; Asst. Prof. Dr.Sasitara Nuampa, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Research, Faculty of Nursing, in “Intensive Training for ContinuingCare System for Highrisk Pregnancy”; Asst. Prof. Nattapol Tangsuphoom, Ph.D., Deputy Director for Educational Affairs, Institute of Nutrition, in  “Household Food Security for Nutrition Wellbeing”, and the last project “Multiculturalism, Medical Pluralism and Communication for Healthcare Professionals” which was carried out by Asst. Prof. Dr.Sumittra Suraratdecha, Ph.D., Acting Deputy Director for International Relations, Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia, Mahidol University, was presented by a representative from the International Relations Division.
