The team from the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orawan Kaewboonchoo, Deputy Dean for International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kwanjai Amnatsatsue, Public Health Nursing Department Head, Asst. Prof. Dr. Artit Phosri, Environmental Health Sciences Department, Lect. Dr. Lalita Kaewwilai, Public Health Nursing Department, Ms. Chenchira Nathathong, International Relations Unit Head and Team, along with two graduate students from the Public Health Nursing Department, Lt. Woraluk Jonglertmontree and Ms. Napaswan Namboonsri, proceeded to the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center to join the opening ceremonies. The building, located in front of the well-known Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), will be visited frequently throughout the week as a central base for activities. Joji Sugawara, Health and Global Policy Institute Senior Manager, opened the meeting by providing a brief overview of the finalized itinerary followed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kwanjai Amnatsatsue delivering the welcome remarks.
The first session of this program allowed the participants to split into their designated groups and strategize how they intend to tackle the upcoming activities. Each group presented an update on their current status and intended research methods for the upcoming week, consisting of several meetings with heads of various organizations relevant to health services for migrant workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This program constitutes a continuation of activities from The Global Health Education Program, Bangkok fieldwork component, initiated July 2022. Thai and international students will exchange knowledge and work with students in Japan focusing on migrant workers management in Japan. This program takes place from August 8 to 12, 2022.
