MUIC Expands Student Exchange Collaboration with University of Strathclyde

Ramathibodi School of Nursing, in collaboration with the Health Promotion Unit, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, organized the project “Young Smart Ratchathewi” at Kingpetch School and Phyathai School

On September 9th and 11th, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Phachongchit Kraithaworn, Assistant Dean for Health Promotion and Instructor from the Division of Community Health Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, served as the project chairperson, presented the background and objectives of the project and also acted as a guest speaker for the following sessions: “When Love Becomes a Risk,” “Proper Use of Condoms,” and “How to Say No.” She was joined by Assistant Instructor Risa Deejuthamanee from the Division of Pediatric Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing.

On this occasion, Professor Dr. Noppawan Piaseu, Deputy Dean for Health Promotion and Instructor from the Division of Community Health Nursing, Ramathibodi School of Nursing, gave a welcome speech. Faculty members from the Division of Community Health Nursing also participated as group speakers. The event was attended by a large number of school administrators, faculty members, and students from the participating schools.

Ramathibodi School of Nursing, in collaboration with the Health Promotion Unit, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Ratchathewi District Office for supporting the project budget; the Ramathibodi Foundation for funding external speakers; and the Tobacco Control Research and Knowledge Management Center, (TRC.), the Action on Smoking and Health Foundation Thailand, and the Division of AIDS and STIs, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, for providing materials, equipment, and prizes. We would also like to thank the guest speakers from the Thailand Youth Institute, Mr. Patcharapan Prachuaplap, Secretary-General at the Thailand Youth Institute, and Mr. Rawisut Kanitkulseth from the Youth Club who delivered talks on the following topics: “The Dangerous Threat of E-cigarettes and Drugs,” “Road Accidents: A Hidden Danger Nearby,” and “Gaming Addiction.”

The objective of this project was to equip youth with accurate knowledge and understanding of the harms and consequences of substance abuse, cigarettes, and e-cigarettes. It also aimed to provide prevention strategies related to teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, gaming addiction, and road accidents.
