Mahidol University Participates in “Digital Health 2025” Conference and Strengthens International Collaboration in Canada

On April 9 – 11, 2025, Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD., FRCP., President of Mahidol University, along with Assoc. Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Ph.D., Vice President for Research, Mahidol University; Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council, Mahidol University, and Dr. Pattanasak Mongkolwat, Dean of Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mahidol University, attended Digital Health 2025 under the theme of “Shaping a Healthier Future through Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Partnerships”. The conference was given a remarkable welcome by Dr. Vivek Goel, President and Vice Chancellor, University of Waterloo, Canada, and the conference chair introduction was delivered by Dr. Charmaine Dean, Vice President, Research and International, University of Waterloo, Canada. This academic conference is organised by Times Higher Education (THE), hosted in partnership with University of Waterloo, Canada. The summit took place at University of Waterloo, Canada.

In this year, Digital Health 2025 focused on three key themes: AI and Health Technologies, Collaboration and Commercialisation, and Responsible Innovation, Ethics, and Healthcare Equity, with a special emphasis on how artificial intelligence can be integrated into public healthcare services. The conference provided a significant international forum for academic exchange. It emphasized the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), innovation, and entrepreneurship as key enablers in transforming healthcare delivery systems. The forum further highlighted the importance of ethical governance, equitable healthcare access, and sustainable innovation in the digital health ecosystem.

On this occasion, the executives of Mahidol University visited York University , and were given the warm welcome by Ms. Vinitha Gengatharan, Assistant Vice President, Global Engagement and Partnerships, York University, Canada, Prof. Jianhong Wu, the founding Director of the Laboratory for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (LIAM), the founding Director of the Fields Laboratory of Mathematics for Public Health (MfPH), York University, Canada, Ms. Helen Balderama, Director of Global Engagement Programs and Partnerships, York University, and the executives from York University. This visitation discussed and explored future collaborative opportunities, including potential joint initiatives such as student exchange programs at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The talks also covered the availability of research scholarship funding, particularly in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering, with an emphasis on future partnerships at York University, Canada.
