On November 4, 2024, Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President, Mahidol University, along with Mrs. Chatvadee Chindawongse, Deputy Director-General, Department of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Anthony Pramualratana, Deputy Executive Director, ASEAN Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD), altogether delivered opening remarks on the “ASEAN SDGs Youth Camp: Leveraging Digital Innovation for the SDGs”. During the event, Mr. Tayud Mongkolrat, Chief Editor of Thailand Foundation, gave a presentation on “Introduction to Thailand and Thai Culture” to the participants, including Mahidol University students, the youth delegates from ASEAN countries and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, at the Prachasangkom Udompathana Meeting Room, Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, Salaya.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Ph.D. Vice President for Research, Mahidol University, gave a lecture on “Digital Innovation for SDGs”, focusing on how digital innovation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), can contribute to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event also featured a diverse range of activities, consisting of lectures on the SDGs by executives, lecturers of Mahidol University, and special guests from several sectors, as well as brainstorming sessions and group presentations by the youth participants. In addition, the event provided excursions to various kinds of learning centers to strengthen good understanding aligning with the SDGs dimensions to the youths.
ASEAN SDGs Youth Camp: Leveraging Digital Innovation for the SDGs was organized during November 4 – 8, 2024, with the cooperation between the Global Partnerships Division of Mahidol University, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD). The purpose of this project was to improve understanding and empower the youths to drive initiatives towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, the project also aimed to promote cooperation among young people in ASEAN regions through the exchange of cultures, perspectives on addressing challenges in SDGs, and the role of digital innovation in supporting future Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
