On 23 June 2023, the 8th Ratchasuda Virtual International Conference on Disability 2023: Resilience and Reinvention of Inclusive Education was held online for the second time, adjusting to the new working norms set as a result of COVID-19.
Somkiat Leelasithorn, M.D., Acting Director of Ratchasuda Academic Center, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University gave the welcome remark and Asst. Prof. Flg. Off. Chatchai Kunavisarut, Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni, Mahidol University gave the opening remark, and with the special acknowledge remark from Ms. Kyungsun Kim, UNICEF’s Representative in Thailand to 97 participants from 16 countries such as, Japan, New Zealand, Ireland, Russia, Bhutan etc. This was followed by three keynote speakers as follows; the first speech on the topic “Developing an Inclusive Education Environment at King’s College London – An Overview” by Dr. Prof. Samantha Smidt, Academic Director, King’s Academy, King’s College, London, United Kingdom. The second speech on the topic “From Inclusion of Learners with Disabilities to Inclusion for All” by Ms. Diane Richler, C.M., Coordinator – International policy fellowship, Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation, Canada. The last keynote speech on the topic “Embedding Diversity and Inclusion in Initial Teacher Education, Research and Practice” by Dr. Camelia Nadia Bran, University College Cork, Ireland.
The afternoon session included concurrent presentations. A total of 8 presentations were presented in the Conference from various countries including Japan, Taiwan and Thailand.
