Mahidol University holds webinar on “Sustainable University Leader towards UI GreenMetric World University Rankings”

On July 17, 2020, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University, presided over the webinar on “Sustainable University Leader towards UI GreenMetric World University Rankings” and gave a talk on the topic “Sustainability in Higher Education”. He stated that Mahidol University implemented ecological conservation policy, holding to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) principle, through several activities aiming to preserve balance of biodiversity to maintain Mahidol University status as sustainable ECO university.

On this occasion, several expert speakers gave a talk on this webinar via ZOOM. The first one was Prof. Dr. Ir. Riri Fitri Sari, M.Sc., M.M., Chairperson of UI GreenMetric. She gave a thank you speech to university networks in Thailand and all universities that participated in sustainable ECO university building process. The second was Asst. Prof. Junaidi, M.A., Vice-chair of UI GreenMetric. He mentioned the importance of the ranking and gave information of ranking criteria which are significant and have impact on the standard of UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

The third was Prof. Ir. Gunawan Tjahjono, M.Arch., Ph.D., Expert Member of UI GreenMetric. He advised of UI GreenMetric Ranking indicators and necessary data submission to UI GreenMetric process in 2020. Lastly, Assoc. Prof. Kitikorn Charmondusit, Ph.D., Acting Vice President for Environment and Sustainable Development, Mahidol University, presented the performance of UI GreenMetric Ranking of Thai’s University in the past 3 years. In 2019, 37 Thai universities, 17% of all which was small number of all Thai Higher education institutions, joined the process. He also suggested that Thai education system should implement an evaluation platform in order to develop potential in sustainable resources management and get into world class sustainability ranking.
