Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific sign memorandum of agreement to accelerate technology and innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals.

26th October 2020 — Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., President of Mahidol University and Assoc. Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn, Ph.D., Dean of Faculty of Engineering sign the memorandum of agreement with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) by Mrs. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary and Mr. Adnan H. Aliani, Director, Strategy and Programme Management Division to accelerate technology and innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the intent to engage with students, young innovators and entrepreneurs to address development challenges at Conference room 4, The United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC).

Mahidol University and United Nations ESCAP will work together to launch the SDG Solutions Lab in Thailand. The Lab will support technology and innovation collaboration between students, young talents, start-ups and governments from across the Asia-Pacific region to deliver solutions for the SDGs. The goals of the SDG Solutions Lab are to function as a start-up environment and create a platform for collaborative problem solving between UN agencies, private sector, academia and civil society. The Lab will also facilitate linkages with innovators and mentors from across the globe as well as to facilitate the global exchange of ideas and resources.
