Community Health & Diseases in Thailand – FIELD EXPERIENCE” Program 2019

Associate Professor Chanuantong Tanasugarn, Dean, Associate Professor Dr Mathuros Tipayamongkholgul, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Networking, Associate Professor Dr Tassanee Silawan, Deputy Dean for Finance and Social Enterprise, together with Program Committee members welcomed 2 professors and 17 undergraduate students from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, USA for a two-week training, “Community Health & Diseases in Thailand – FIELD EXPERIENCE” Program comprising classroom lectures, visits to various communities, field study and cross cultural sharing. In Bangkok the participants visited the GPO, the Department of Health Service Support and the Department of Health Services Support.

In Salaya they visited Mahidol University Salaya Campus and the Faculty of Veterinary Science. They also experienced cross cultural excursions visiting Ayutthaya and the Ancient City and Asiatique Night Market in Bangkok. They studied Primary Care Services in an urban community and examined how to manage the Senior Center and Senior Citizen School at Public Health Center in BMA Region # 4 including observing how the Senior Center/Senior Citizen School was run. The highlight of their Program included conducting health surveys and interviews with local villagers in a rural community in Ratchaburi Province to better understand the health situation and engaged in cross cultural sharing in their village homestays. The Program was held from the 20 to 31 May 2019 based at the Phaya Thai Campus, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University.
