Mahidol University holds “Bike for Health”, exhibits health promotion best practices

The ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University, organized the “Bike for Health” campaign to promote physical activity on Dec 11, 2019, at Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

Mahidol University Acting President, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D. presided over the opening festivities and led the cyclists navigate through the cycling path. More than 300 people composed of lecturers, staff, and students of Mahidol University, District Chiefs, representatives from local governments, representatives from various communities, and representatives from different ASEAN universities have participated in the remarkable health-promoting event.

The “Bike for Health” aimed to effectively promote physical activity and health promotion strategies through active public exhibitions. Faculties, institutes, and centers under Mahidol University exhibited various best practices on health promotion strategies in 4 different spots located along the cycling path: 1. Medical Technology Faculty, 2. College of Sport Science and Technology, 3. Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park, and 4. ASEAN Institute for Health Development.

The cycling participants, being health promotion advocates, have not only started to increase their physical activity in combating non-communicable diseases but have also actively engaged and campaigned health promotion. With the collaboration and cooperation among Mahidol University, ASEAN universities, and communities in promoting health promotion to all, the Bike for Health event ended with resounding success.
