The 1st Mahidol University (MU – CMU) Symposium

On the 15th January 2018, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., Acting President of Mahidol University, together with Prof. Dr. Liang-Yo Yang, School of Medicine, China Medical University (CMU) signed MOU, and presided over The 1st MU – CMU Symposium which was organized at Pratap Singhasivanon Conference Room, 17th Floor, Rachanakarindra Building, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Phayathai Campus.

Assoc. Prof. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Ph.D., Acting Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University, presented a report of the symposium, followed by welcome remarks from Assoc. Prof. Pratap Singhasivanon, Ph.D., Dean of Faculty of Tropical Medicine.

The objectives of this symposium are to give academic presentations on scientific and medical knowledge, as well as to reinforce research network between the two universities. At the presentation, several topics were addressed, such as stem cell, cancer, neuroscience/stroke, traditional Chinese medicine/Thai herbal medicine, pharmacy, and public health.

The topics presented by the representatives from Mahidol University – including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suphakde Julavijitphong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanitra Thuwajit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pravit Akarasereenont and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supin Chompoopong from Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Prof. Dr. Suradej Hongeng, Prof. Teeratorn Pulkes and Asst. Prof. Thanyanan Reungwetwattana from Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Asst. Prof. Kittiyod Poovorawan from Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Assist. Prof. Krit Thirapanmethee from Faculty of Pharmacy, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mathuros Tipyamongkholgul from Faculty of Public Health – were done by way of an open session, allowing the exchange of ideas and the questions from the participants.
