MU visits to 4 Universities in Southern China Region

During 3-6 June 2018, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Dhirathiti, together with Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, along with representatives from the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Nursing, School of Nursing Ramathibodi Hospital, visited universities and hospital facilities in Southern China region to explore and discuss about the possibility of collaboration in the areas of medical innovation, integrated medicine, science, engineering and nursing. The visits have been made to:

1) Central South China University (CSU), Xiangya 1 Hospital and Xiangya 3 Hospital: The Meeting concluded that collaboration on medical robotics will be further pursued and the collaboration with Xiangya 1 Hospital together with a private sector partnership will be explored through CSU counterparts.

2) Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Tongji Medical University and Tongji Hospital: The Meeting concluded that the collaboration on integrated medicine especially through trainings of young staff from Mahidol University in Traditional Chinese Medicine at HUST will be further explored. Other collaborations such as double degree programmes in Nursing, exchanges in related disciplines will also be pursued in the future.

3) Kunming Medical University (KUM), KMU National Simulation Lab and Kunming University Hospital: together with the attendance of the MoU renewal ceremony between the two institutions and the courtesy call for the President of KUM, the Meeting agreed to continue the collaboration in the areas of basic science, explore the possibility to nurse trainings, and also to exchange staff and students between the two. The KUM National Simulation Lab is also showcasing the full-capacity of clinical skills and assessment centre.

4) Yunnan University and Yunna Maker Space (TusKspace): upon the courtesy call to the President of Yunnan University, the Meeting also agreed to explore collaborations in science and social sciences focusing on the exchange in the areas of material science, bio resources and liberal arts while at the same time attempt to locate areas of social research such as on migration, minority and so on. Yunnan University also showcased the co-invested makerspace for start-ups and entrepreneurs with Tsinghua University.
