The Meeting was arranged for two consecutive days during June 8-9, 2023 (GMT +7). The Meeting was composed of various topics of the academic lectures delivered by invited speakers from the Pharmacy Schools under the US-Thai Pharmacy Consortium. Regarding this, MUPY’s academic staff also participated as an invited speaker and moderators including 1) Assoc. The Meeting aimed to promote cooperative advancement of pharmacy education and research among 19 schools of pharmacy in Thailand, 16 schools of pharmacy in the United States of America, and those from ASEAN and Asian countries, resulting in increasing the roles of Thailand’s universities as the leader of pharmacy education in the region. It also provided a platform for the exchange of ideas and strategies in pharmacy education as well as to foster research collaborations among the pharmacy schools of the regions. Additionally, this meeting advocated a technology transfer among the pharmacy schools at an international level.

Normally, the US-Thai Pharmacy Consortium Meeting is scheduled for every two years. The latest Meeting was organized on June 7-8, 2022, via Zoom Webinar. As a consequence of the global spread of the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19), the steering committee of the Consortium agreed to shift the conference to be arranged via the online platform.

Furthermore, the US-Thai Consortium for the Development of Pharmacy Education in Thailand was founded in May 1994 when nine schools of pharmacy from the United States and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with eight schools of pharmacy in Thailand and the Committee for Pharmacy Manpower Development of the Thailand Ministry of University Affairs. The Consortium fosters a formal link, on an institutional basis, that supports the long-term development plan of the Ministry of University Affairs to enhance the academic, research, and clinical programs of their Schools of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The mission of the consortium is to foster a formal link, on an institutional basis, in recognition of the long-term development plan of the Ministry of University Affairs to enhance the academic, research, and clinical programs of their Schools of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The long-term goal of the program is to expand the number of pharmacy schools and pharmacy faculty members in Thailand, and the subsequent training of additional pharmacists for practice; thereby, strengthening both pharmacy education and practice to improve the health and welfare of the Thai people.

Furthermore, this event also corresponded with SDGs in 3rd Goal: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, 4th Goal: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all., 10th Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries., and 17th Goal: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
