Mahidol University organizes a workshop on Health Literacy Curriculum for Healthy Mahidol in New Normal

On January 18, 2022, Professor Banchong Mahaisavariya, President of Mahidol University presided over the opening of the workshop named “Health Literacy Curriculum for Healthy Mahidol in New Normal”. Associate Professor Dr. Phudit Tejativaddhana, M.D., Director of the ASEAN Institute for Heath Development, Mahidol University and Executive Director for ASEAN University Network – Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) made a report of the workshop at the Boonsiri Conference Room at ASEAN Institute of Health Development, Mahidol University through the hybrid (online and onsite) system.

The training workshop was organized by the “Healthy Mahidol in New Normal” Working Group under health promotion of AUN-HPN, aiming to promote health promotion activities in ASEAN region. The main objective was to encourage university personnel and students to be equipped with knowledge and skills of health promotion, environment, and well-being under the concept of AUN-HPN Healthy University.

This workshop attempted to create the Leader of Healthy Mahidol in New Normal called “MU Healthy Idols and MU Healthy Influencers” among the group of personnel and students. They would be able to use the application effectively for physical activities, relaxation, consumption, implementation of campaign activities for safety from alcohol, cigarettes, narcotics, gambling and the danger of driving, etc. This activity supported the progress toward being a leader in knowledge and skill of Health promotion under 22 areas of the AUN-HPN Healthy University Framework. Attending the workshop were personnel and students from all the departments within Mahidol University. A total of 90 online and onsite participants from 34 departments registered in this workshop. Now approximately 500 people have registered in the U-Healthy Application.

The topic of this training consisted of (1) “Health Literacy with New Normal” presented by Prof. Dr. Prasit Wattanapha, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, (2) Exchanging experiences on the topic of “The development of Health Organizations and Awards from Thai Health Promotion Foundation” by Dr. Rungarun Kesawahong, Assistant Dean for Health Promotion, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, and (3) The team of lecturers from the working group presented about “Health Promotion of New Normal among students :Zero Tolerance Areas” as one of the thematic area of AUN-HPN.
